Just as the Botany port expansion project came to an end in the first half of 2011 two and a half years after commencement, Gray Diving services has been awarded the diving support for the burial of 6 power cables and 2 optic fibre cables across Botany Bay. GDS will be providing 2 diving teams working around the clock in support of the project for Ausgrid and the Energy 2 U alliance, the project sees the company's DSV "Benthic Bay" - 60" twin lock chamber and packaged control van along with Nitrox system and jetting equipment being utilised on the project. The works are being undertaken with Offshore and Ocean Engineering supplying the dedicated support barge "A.P. Recovery" and the cable burial tractor from Ocean Trenching Technologies.

Gray Diving takes delivery of new 60 inch chamber
With increasing project demands and our on going commitment to expanding our capabilities and providing total turn key service to our clients GDS ordered a new build 60" offshore twin lock chamber from Divex Australia with delivery and final commissioning undertaken mid 2009. The chamber was delivered with DNV certification, complying with all IMCA requirements and with current approvals for use in Australia.
Gray Diving currently owns and operates 3 twin lock chambers in 48" – 54" and now 60" configurations

Gray Diving expands nitrox capability
Late in 2009 Gray Diving took delivery of a new 55 cfm Nuvair Nitrox generator unit supplied by Pro-Diving Services at Mascot, the packaged unit arrived from the manufacturer in the United States ready to be installed into a 3 metre certified sea container, this of course was only the beginning and the engineering had to be undertaken to fit up both high and low pressure compressor systems along with HP storage facilities and cylinder filling capacity within the container, heat and ventilation issues also had to be addressed as the unit is a stand alone item running entirely on internal combustion engines and requires no external power supply to operate, Brendan and Rick at Pro-Diving Services provided the technical assistance along with a multitude of fittings from their vast stock that GDS required to complete the design and fabrication of the system in-house.
